Man Wanted for Murder in Toronto Found by U.S. Border Agents Hiding in New York Woods
A 29-year-old man named Luis Miguel Eucebio-Severino, a citizen of the Dominican Republic and a prime suspect wanted for First Degree Murder in Toronto (Canada), was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents.
On Friday, January 12, 2024, a responsible citizen reported near Westville, NY at 8.00 am that a person exited a vehicle quickly and ran into a field to flee from the place. Following the report, officers started searching the area and found a person hidden in the nearby woods.
The search work was conducted by a Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine helicopter. During the search operation, they found the man hidden in nearby woods in New York State. As per American officials’ report, the hiding place was located three kilometres south of the Canada-U.S. border. He exited a vehicle and started running into a field when a citizen found him and reported the police. Consequently, the Border Patrol arrived there and arrested him.
Luis Miguel Eucebio-Severino was a wanted in Toronto. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of committing the murder of Roberto Lowndes, 36, of Kleinburg, Ontario. Roberto Lowndes was found sought dead on a road located north of Highway 401 on Dec. 9, 2023.
Border security agents confirmed his arrest and added that Eucebio-Severino had no immigration documents or citizenship status that could allow him to get into the United States, legally. Consequently, he was taken to a border station in Cornwall, Ontario. He was handed over to Toronto Police by that evening. Now, he is in police custody of the Toronto Police Service.
Homicide Detective of Toronto Police Service, Jason Hillier told media that Eucebio-Severino was picked up from the border by Toronto police officers and brought a charge against him with first-degree murder. Charges against him are related to an attempted carjacking.
